Eurythmy

Eurythmy is Waldorf’s central expressive movement practice and is foundational to the harmonious, whole-person experience of a Waldorf education. Based in music theory and poetic rhythm, artistry flows through the movements as students articulate geometric forms, musical tones and intervals, colors, numbers and linguistic sounds expressed through intricate movements done in harmony as a group.

They spend hours in each other’s company, paying attention to where they are in spatial relationship to each other. It takes a kind of kinesthetic attention to understand where your friend is in relationship to you.
— Sarah Rem, Eurythmy Teacher

Peaceful as well as energetic, eurythmy awakens students’ somatic wisdom, allowing them to develop spatial awareness, mindfulness, and cross-body function, as well as a kinesthetic relationship with academic content and each other.

High school students practice eurythmy weekly and the senior year culminates in final performances the students have choreographed throughout the year.
